Date Time Racial justice grants fund two new public health projects Inspired by the university’s Seed Fund for Racial Justice, Ohio State’s College of Public Health recently awarded $100,000 to research projects addressing racism and resulting inequities. Wilson Figueroa, senior consulting research statistician at the Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Evaluation Studies (HOPES), received $75,000 to study the impacts of daily stress on queer people of color, and Jennifer Hefner, assistant professor of health services management and policy, received $25,000 to evaluate 911 response to mental health crises in Columbus. The racial justice seed grants are designed to help researchers get their ideas off the ground as they work toward larger projects, said Bill Miller, senior associate dean of research and professor of epidemiology.
