Just a day before Himachal Pradesh begins its vaccination drive in 12 districts, the cabinet on Friday cleared the reopening of schools for students of classes V, VIII and XII on February 1.
The cabinet meeting held here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur decided that all the teachers of summer-closing government schools would attend classes from January 27. All Covid-19 precautions should be taken and protocols followed, the meeting added.

With steady decline in Covid cases, the Himachal Cabinet today decided to open summer closing schools for students from February 1 while classes in winter closing schools would begin from February 15.

ITIs, polytechnic and engineering colleges would open from February 1.
In order to facilitate the early construction of Chamba medical College Cabinet gave its nod to raze 28 old government structures.
The Cabinet decided to set up Women Help Desks in district police offices and police thanas.
The decision to open schools was taken by the Cabinet at its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur here today. All the government colleges would be opened for regular classes from February 8 after winter vacations by following the laid down SOPs.

Himachal Pradesh High Court on Thursday directed the state government to set up Post-Covid Out Patient Department (OPDs) in the hospital for providing necessary health care to Covid-negative patients and also ensure regular follow-up after having been discharged from the medical institutions.
The court also passed orders about allowing home food to the patients in the Covid care wards, and also explore possibilities of individual attendants for critical patients.
