When the gardai turned up at the Colaiste na hInse Couch to 5km run on Laytown beach last week, the students were relieved to find they weren t in trouble!
The 100 or so pupils of the local school were relieved and excited to learn that Garda Inspector Brian Monaghan was there to wish them well and talk to them briefly about the benefits of remaining active especially during these tough times.
He then set them loose and they made good use of the beach facilities to allow for ample social distancing. We are so proud of our daltaí during this time. Our training times were before school at 8am in the morning, often in bitterly cold weather conditions, explains PE and English teacher Ms Jennifer Gregory. It did not stop the large amounts turning up for the training session. This group the last few weeks displayed excellent sportsmanship and mental strength.
