Starts right now. And good evening, thank you for joining us. Were waiting to hear from fbi director james comey whos going to speak at a dinner for the Intelligence Community. Well bring you those answers to questions live when they happen. Earlier today, the top two members, the Senate Intelligence committee spoke to reporters in advance of their first public hearing tomorrow into all things russia. And while its obviously too soon to draw any conclusions as to the shape of their investigations, the shape its going to take, its hard to miss the sharp contrast between todays rollout between straight
forward, devoid of policy, a train wreck over on the house side. Both the house and the Senate Intelligence committees are supposed to investigate russian meddling in the last election as well as poli
Paragraphs talking about written by nice reporter, now i dont remember, he goes i done remember. Maybe thats what i said. This was 14 years ago. They didnt do a retraction. Special guest, someone active in politics and concerned about the Direction Politics is heading right fou. What did you think and feel when you watched meryl streep talk about a man going o be our president mocking someones disability . I thought she said what she said beautifully. Its easy enough to see the video online of trump mocking i agree with meryl it was heartbreaking moment and so beneath the dignity of the
presidency let alone any pt respectful person. What we need more is kindness and common decency. And what he did how he reacted how he needs he has the need to talk back and insult anybody who doesnt agree with him, thats pretty disgraceful. What do you make of the critique that meryl streep made last night you can push this and it becomes norm. You define deantsy. This kind of behavior become the norm.
we have rules, and the rules were put in place after bobby kennedy was the attorney general, and that law basically said, no more nepotism. what does this president do? he decides, well, he s going to make his two, his daughter and son-in-law volunteers so they won t be subject to the nepotism law. all right, daniel, what s the likelihood of her legislation actually getting passed here? hard to see mitch mcconnell putting this legislation on the floor. he s had a good working relationship with jared and ivanka. jared critical with the criminal justice reform that passed congress, and with the couple being worth an estimated $1.1 billion, it s hard to see that paying $1,000 for both of them is going to have much of a dent even though it s very unlikely. i think that is indicative of the fact that the president really trusts his daughter and son-in-law, and he is a
i mean this is a president who abuses power. he says they don t know how to play the game. he thinks this is a game but they have rules and they were put in places after bobby kennedy was the attorney general and that basically said no more nepotism. so he decides he s goeing to make his daughter and son in law volunte volunteer so they won t be subject to the nepotism law. and he wants to give the two volunteer top security clearances. then when they don t meet the standards, he tells them just get them the security clearances. i mean there s a reason why the intelligence community made that recommendation. our country s status is at risk. our national security is at risk and we somehow think this is just some little game.
now, we also learned this week the fbi is looking into ivanka trump s international business ties. specifically that trump international hotel and tower in vancouver, which christina told us all about. apparently, this is what s holding up her white house security clearance. i m not sure we have had people in the white house that have had such complicated finances before, but should it be disqualifying? she s another one who has been allowed to keep a number of significant financial interests. i think in both her case and jared kushner s case, what should be disqualifying is that they are related to the president. the 2.7 million civilian federal employees are not permitted to engage in nepotism, but the president got the department of justice to change basically a half century old view on nepotism and the interpretation of the nepotism law to say it s okay for him to hold himself to a lower standard than all of the people he oversees in the government. that alone should have been
