WSU Sends First Medical School Graduates Out Into The World

SPR s Doug Nadvornick reports. Washington State University today [Thursday] graduated its first-ever medical school class during a virtual ceremony, part of a three-day university-wide festival of commencements. The first WSU College of Medicine commencement ceremony probably wasn’t what President Elson Floyd had in mind when he announced six years ago that the university would create its own medical school. First, it was online and he wasn’t there to celebrate it. Floyd passed away in 2015, not long after Governor Jay Inslee signed legislation allowing WSU to move ahead with the school. His successor, Kirk Schulz, stood in for him.

State vs Chauvin: Defense to start presenting their case

WDIO/KSTP Created: April 13, 2021 09:38 AM Peter Chang, Minneapolis Park Police | The defense for a former Minneapolis police officer charged in George Floyd’s death is set to start presenting its case. This follows 11 days of a prosecution narrative that combined wrenching video with clinical analysis by medical and use-of-force experts to condemn Derek Chauvin’s actions. Prosecutors called their final witnesses Monday, leaving only some administrative matters before they were expected to rest Tuesday. Once the defense takes over, Chauvin attorney Eric Nelson is expected to have his own experts testify that it was Floyd’s drug use and bad heart, not Chauvin’s actions, that killed him.

Volleyball Returns to Bohler Gym

WEEK PREVIEW The Cougs remain at No. 17 in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll after the series sweep of Colorado at home, and the cancellation of the series at Stanford this past weekend. WSU will now host the Golden Bears of California (1-9, 1-9 Pac-12) this coming weekend inside Bohler Gym, with match one slated for Friday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. Washington State s matches at No. 23 Stanford, scheduled previously for Friday, Feb. 19, and Sunday, Feb. 21, was canceled due to recent COVID-19 protocol developments within the Stanford Volleyball program, which resulted in less than the minimum number of required student-athletes being available for competition for the Cardinal.
