AN exhibition is to showcase previously unseen photographs to mark the 80th anniversary of the Barrow Blitz. Previously unseen photographs will be shown in an online photography exhibition to mark the anniversary of the German bombing raids. The exhibition includes rare photos from the Sankey Family Photography Collection – a unique record of life in the area during the latter years of the 19th century and the early decades of the 20th. Edward Sankey and his sons Raymond and Eric were prolific photographers of Furness, Cumberland, Westmorland and Lancashire. This exhibition will give an insight into some of the ways the Barrow Blitz affected the town, reflecting on the many changes that have taken place in Barrow due to World War Two.
