A VET nurse has raised more than £2,000 for hospital nurses and doctors who helped her pull through a rare form of cancer. Amy Gardiner underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre and Southmead Hospital after being diagnosed with a rare form of the disease. Afterwards, Amy, a senior medicine nurse at Cave Veterinary Specialists in West Buckland, wanted to show her appreciation for the expert care she’d received by supporting the charity Above and Beyond, which raises money for Bristol City Centre Hospitals. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, plans for a major fundraising event were put on hold, so instead she sold Christmas trees from home and donated a percentage of the profits to the charity.
