Historic airplane lands a new role at Houma-Terrebonne Airport
At the Houma–Terrebonne Airport, a piece of Louisiana history resides on the green.
Andy Cook, an air-traffic controller, has spent the past three months renovating a Boeing 727 cockpit and first-class area into a gathering space for aviators, airplane mechanics and anyone interested in experiencing a historic piece of aviation.
For two years, the jet sat in a nearby shipyard, with the 40 feet that hasn’t been salvaged for equipment exposed to the elements. Cook worked out a deal with the owner to move a piece of the plane to the airport and renovate it.
