ASA felicitates North East Olympic medallists

Our Correspondent Kohima, Nov. 23 (EMN): The Angami Sports Association (ASA) felicitated the 2nd North East Olympic Game medallists from Angami community on Wednesday at Talimeren conference hall, Nagaland Olympic Association office complex in Kohima. Altogether 33 medalists from the four Angami units — southern, northern, western and chakro regions — who represented the state of Nagaland were felicitated. Citations included INR 3,000 for each gold medalist, INR 2,000 for each silver medalist and INR 1500 for each bronze medalist. Viketouzo Meyase, vice president of ASA, the apex sports body of the Angami tribe, lauded the sportspersons for bringing laurels to the Angami community as well as the state of Nagaland. Our Correspondent Kohima, Nov. 17 (EMN): Fresh off their historic wins at the recently concluded 2nd Northeast Olympic Games (NEOG) at Shillong in Meghalaya, the elated duo — Neiketoulie Belho and Niansai T — expressed happiness on achieving the feat, while thanking their coaches for the training and support. Neiketoulie Belho and Niansai T were awarded the best athletes in the athletics category at the recently. Belho won three gold medals for Nagaland in long jump, 100m dash and 100x4m relay race with his comrades Rongsenmeren, Nekhoto Tunyi and Vivor Kesiezie; while Niansai won two gold medals in 800m and 1500m race. “I feel very good and blessed winning the highest achievement in my sporting career,” Belho told Eastern Mirror. Dimapur, Nov. 16 (EMN): The Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has congratulated Neiketoulie Belho of Kohima district for being awarded the “Best Male Athlete” at the ongoing Northeast Olympics, 2022 at Shillong, Meghalaya. “AYO lauds the stupendous achievement of Mr. Belho who won three gold medals. He bagged gold in Long Jump, 100 mtrs and 4X100 mtr relay. “This is a rare achievement by a Naga athlete. Assam secured the second place with 79 gold, 61 silver and 63 bronze, while Arunachal Pradesh stood in the third place with 39 gold, 36 silver and 37 bronze, followed by hosts Meghalaya with 36 gold, 35 silver and 78 bronze, a huge leap from the sixth place in 2018 to fourth this year. Dimapur, Nov. 15 (EMN): Nagaland added four more gold medals to its tally at the ongoing Northeast Olympic Games in Meghalaya on Tuesday, making it the fifth state in the overall medal chart.Nagaland now has 16 gold, 14 silver, and 37 bronze medals. Venuze Dawhuo secured gold for Nagaland in the +73kg Judo; Neiketoulie Belho in 4×100 m race, Tsuchoi T in the 5000m race and Nekhoto Tunyi, Rongsenmeren, Vivor kesieze and Neiketoulie Belho – 4×100 meters relay race (men). The best athlete award for Above-20 men was awarded Neiketoulie Belho for winning the 100m and long jump.
