Reporter weve heard plenty of stories from other countries about healthcare workers, police officers, firefighters all getting sick while taking care of covid19 patients themselves and bringing that home. Mayor london breed wants to stop the cycle and find a place fur healthcare workers and frontline workers to live while they fight this disease. While hospitals, doctors, and nurses ramp up fur the anticipated patient sick with covid19, they are trying to figure out where to house the essential healthcare workers. We dont want healthcare workers who are on the front lines to go home and potentially infect others or be infected in their communities and not be able to work. We are standing up hotels fur them as well. Reporter hotels which have seen occupancy rates plummet as tourism evaporates from shelter in place orders, they may have new guests. Healthcare providers. They are trying to procure those rooms in addition to 3500 rooms that have been set aside to isolate patients who may c
Peskin. Ill just call you. Supervisor preston. Just one question regarding some shelters that are not 24 hours, so, for example, in my district the first friendship emergency family shelter where folks have to leave at 7 00 in the morning i know that theres other shelters that dont operate 24 hours. And im curious if theres been any effort underway under the circumstances to try to have shelters that are less than 24 hours to be a resource during the day as well . Yes. Thank you for that question. I couldnt have scripted this discussion any better. We are working on that and trying to get all shelters that are currently not open 24 hours, including first friendship, to stay open and to provide three meals a day. So thats in the process and i dont know the status of that, but thats our intention is that all shelters stay open 24 7 and theres only a few that do not and so it shouldnt be too big of a lift. Thank you. President yee okay, i think that is it. Thank you very much,. Thank you

In, vice dean for public practice at the John Hopkins School for Public Health. The cases we talked about at the beginning of the show were reported cases, jumped by 5000 since yesterday. When you compare this to other Public Health crises, other viruses, i should say, what sort of jump is that . How concerned are you by that jump . Guest it is consistent with spread of a virus through a susceptible population. Some of that is testing is becoming more available. The reason testing is finding so many cases is so many people are infected. We are talking about a virus no human being has seen before, before a few months ago. We are all susceptible. That makes the spread fast. Host do you think the approach, the nationwide approach at least, in terms of prioritizing social distancing of people isolating, staying at home and secondarily, ramping up testing is the right approach . Do we need to be more aggressive with testing nationwide . Guest we are trying to be more aggressive with testing
