Like-minded group of local activists, grassroots leaders and concerned citizens plan to host a meeting Saturday in Chinatown to brainstorm ways to improve Honolulu’s 50-year-old Neighborhood Board System.
Fifty years have passed since Oʻahu voters approved a neighborhood board system. Nowadays there are 33 boards across the island. Lloyd Yonenaka, executive secretary of the Neighborhood Commission Office, says over 400 people are needed to fill the boards this election year.
