JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Mississippi is no stranger to severe weather, but this year proved to be particularly active.
February was filled with the Pearl River flooding. COVID-19 hit in March, complicating all future weather response efforts. April brought two rounds of tornadoes. A pair of Easter Sunday EF4 tornadoes. One was the widest tornado in Mississippi history. Fourteen people were killed.
One week later, another EF4 tornado tore a path less than 40 miles from that pair on Easter Sunday. A Marion County man died. And then a record number of named hurricanes with some missing the Magnolia State coastline but others leaving damage behind.
