(Rockaway Beach, Oregon) – All up and down the Oregon coast, there is always something captivating happening along the beaches – and Rockaway Beach is definitely no exception. In September and October, as those glorious “Second Summer” conditions hit their full stride, the weather doesn’t just cooperate, it captivates. As winter arrives, those cloudy skies at sunset for some reason have a different color scheme to them, staying that way through winter most of the time. Sand levels rise and fall throughout the year, revealing old treasures or adding new ones in the way they change this beach.

(Oregon Coast) – From the north Oregon coast down through the south coast, little can fill you with wonder like a big view from up on high. You’re not exactly touching the sky – but sometimes you’re far up enough that the clouds will touch you. On occasion you’re even above them.

Aside from that gripping I’m-at-the-beach feeling, when are you at your highest on the Oregon coast?
At its peaks. Literally, there are truly soaring places next to the sands that jut up higher than you can imagine.
Much of Rockaway Beach is populated by sizable foredunes covered in beach grass. This is one of the beach accesses closer to northern edges.
The iconic caboose houses the Chamber of Commerce and lots of visitor information. It’s a nod to the locomotive history deeply ingrained in the area, but it’s not actually one of the trains that stopped here just after the turn of the century.
The northern end of Rockaway Beach - called Manhattan Beach - hosts the southern jetty of the Nehalem Bay.
Twin Rocks as seen during one of those commonly stunning spring days on the north Oregon coast.

On Manzanita s main drag, Laneda Ave., you ll find Sunset Vacation Rentals. While the office may be in the thick of Manzanita and its dense trees, SSVR – as they re sometimes known – has its rather imaginative touches running throughout the bay area and Rockaway Beach. Some 115 homes, in fact.
Sunset Vacation Rentals has some just inland in Nehalem, where the woodsy and river vibes take over, and temperatures in summer can jump closer to inland heatwave temps just by driving a few miles from the beaches. They ve got a couple as far north as a few miles south of Cannon Beach at Falcon Cove, a wild and untamed area where the rocks are famous for making weird, rattling noises.
