Under the revised guidelines, candidates who have studied physics, chemistry, biology/biotechnology, along with English, as additional subjects after passing Class XII, will now be eligible to appear for the NEET-UG test. This test serves as the gateway for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in India. Moreover, such candidates will also be considered for the grant of an eligibility certificate.
A student who scored well in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test was termed a "ghost student" as the Admission Committee rejected her candidature, stating that no student took the test using the application number she provided. The NEET claimed the paperwork submitted was fake, and no student had taken the NEET on the application number cited.
The Directorate General of Health Services in India has revised its policy to allow medical students to upgrade their college choices until the third counselling round. Previously, students could only change their choices until the second round, but now they can move to new seats in the third round also known as the mop-up round.
