(Photo/ ANI) IPS officer arrested on corruption charges in Rajasthan ANI | Updated: Feb 03, 2021 08:05 IST Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], February 3 (ANI): The Rajasthancorruption-bureau >Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested an IPS (Indian Police Service) officer on alleged corruption charges during his tenure as Superintendent of police in Dausa, ACB Director General (DG) B L Soni said on Tuesday. IPS officer Manish Agrawal has been arrested under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, Soni added. The IPS officer s name came into light after petrol pump owner Neeraj Meena was arrested from Dausa for allegedly demanding 38 lakh as a bribe from a highway construction firm on behalf of the officer, the official informed.

After spending a night in ACB custody following his arrest on Tuesday, the accused officer will be presented in court on Wednesday after undergoing coronavirus test. Agrawal has been arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act, ACB Director BL Soni said. Sources said that a team of two ACB officials had interrogated Agrawal. His mobile phones were earlier seized by the ACB.

Manish Agarwal, the former Dausa SP allegedly sought a bribe of Rs38 lakh through his middleman from a construction company that was building a highway in the district. Agarwal was arrested from his home on Tuesday afternoon and taken to the ACB office in Jhalana area of Jaipur, ACB DG BL Soni said, adding, Agarwal was arrested under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. ACB officials are searching his house. This is the fourth arrest in the bribery case from the highway construction company. The ACB on January 13 arrested former Bandikui SDM Pinky Meena, former Dausa SDM Pushkar Mittal and tout Neeraj Meena. All the three are lodged in jail. Pinky Meena was caught taking a bribe of Rs10 lakh while Pushkar Mittal was nabbed taking Rs 5 lakh. The two Rajasthan Administrative Service officers were suspended.
