not going to be active. people were staying out of fear. some didn t have the money to leave to go to a hotel. next to me, there s an apartment building and people are peeking out to try to assess how bad things are. it s going to be a number of hours before this clears out, then the concern is the rain and the flooding. some people don t have a place to go. some people need medical care. their care aid is local. some need oxygen. the business of people without documentation going to shelters, we hear i.c.e. doesn t go to shelters. after the past couple years, i understand why people who are undocumented are scared. i want to show you pictures of the continued rescues going on in new bern, north carolina. we have talked to two residents being rescued. this has become a serious
we work as a team. because we also have a team of friends helping us here. everything that we re doing is through family and friends. the puerto ricans have united and this has become an amazing experience. we re together, we re american citizens, we re strong, and we re going to bring puerto rico back. we d love to have you back on and hear more about what you ve been able to do. what a dynamic. jorge, we love you, but i think we re in love with laura more now. she s pretty cool. tomorrow, i want to let you know, tomorrow we re flying a plane, and they gave us, they donate 80 seats for us and we re going to fly back here to florida people who have medical conditions that cannot be taken care of on the island. people that need dialysis, people that need respirators, people that need oxygen. so we re flying back all those people tomorrow and we re going to do this again tuesday and thursday. so we re definitely working hard. this is no joke, and puerto rico needs help. laur a real
any person logically would, when their life is unraveling, would have got to the point of that woman, they would stop. why don t addicts stop, they would if they could but they can t. they have an illness. their brain has changed over the course of their drug use and some addicts have described it in the same way that we all need oxygen. if you re deprived of oxygen, you will kick, you will scream, you will do anything to get more. if you re deprived of drugs, the same behavior kicks in. the same desperation kicks in. your brain is starved for this chemical that it is used to functioning on. i think that s absolutely right. i don t want to go into too much detail but i have seen addiction up close. and addiction becomes like a living thing in your mind. like an organism that fights to perpetuate itself and giving you all the reasons why you should continue on that path. and it is part of the challenge of getting off, isn t it? it is. it is a cycle.
