thanks for joining us. i m fredricka whitfield. joe biden is on his way to the southern border ahead of the north american leader summit in mexico city. moments ago, he boarded air force one and departed for el paso, texas, where he will eventually assess the situation along the border for himself. this will be his first visit to the border during his presidency. his administration is under fire from republicans and some democrats over the migrant crisis along the southern border. el paso, texas, had seen a record level of migrants and asylum seekers arriving in recent weeks, hoping a trump era law blocking border crossings would be lifted. cnn s correspondent is at the white house for us. so this trip comes just days after biden unveiled a new immigration plan. what more can you tell us about the president s visit and his goals? reporter: joe biden will spend roughly three hours in el paso, texas, a city that s been at the center of the immigration debate for years now. it

not say a whole lot. we have some good news out of the united states congress. yesterday the house past four foreign aid bills including aid for ukraine prompting cheers and the chance you can hear of ukraine in the chamber. it happened largely because an apparent revelation earlier this week. house speaker johnson finally came to see vladimir putin as a real threat. i can make a selfish decision and do something that is different, but i am doing what i believe to be the right thing. i think providing legal aid to ukraine right now is critically important. i really do believe vladimir putin would continue to march through europe if you were allowed. it is the right thing. ukraine does need funding. this is quite a turnaround for the guy who never voted for
