Only two months ago the biggest story in real estate was the meager housing stock compared to what was available the prior year. I wrote on these pages how listings in Bergen County essentially halved from a year ago and this trend still remains true today. Take Teaneck for example, and we will find that there are 54 houses for sale currently and one year ago on the same date there were 120. It was early in my real estate career and after humble beginnings trying to establish my name that business began to pick up. I was starting to get referrals, and a friend of mine sent me a customer from a well-known and respected family. I was thrilled at the opportunity to prove myself and so diligently prepared to take this couple out and show them the neighborhood.
The clients were a young married couple with two kids who were leaving Manhattan to find a home in the suburbs.
