right now, we have dozens of crews hitting the road. we have crews that have stretched from the perry area and in tallahassee and jacksonville. some challenges are getting through the roadways. we know tallahassee reported more than 200 roads that are blocked right now. literally, just getting to the actual outages may wiould bith be a challenge with the roads blocked with trees. we cover mexico beach. i know that is an area you have been showing. if you live in the panhandle, if you live west of tallahassee, chances are you don t have power right now? that s correct. duke energy covers an area stretches from pinellas county and the coast through mexico beach. if you are west of tallahassee and you are a duke energy
the damage starting tomorrow. there are people that need to be rescued in other parts of the panhandle near mexico beach. that damage will be assessed for days to come. but again, brian, at this point this neighborhood, many communities along the panhandle are dark and still and there is no true accounting yet of the extent of this damage. by the way, brian, authorities do say that one person was killed today when a tree fell on their home just outside of tallahassee. brian? it s an eerie time. the first night after a storm. so many of them arrive at night. this was a rare daytime arrival, however. gabe gutierrez there in apalachicola. i want to show you a piece of video from panama city, where the wind got the best look at this freight train on the right. the cars are leaning up to the side, many of them left their undercarriages on the tracks. but imagine the wind power to blow a freight train to the side and off the tracks. that s part of what we saw

here. you can get a sense of just how strong the winds were. sustained winds here in panama city beach of 100 miles per hour, gusts of 120 miles per hour, and east of here, wolf, as you have been saying, the winds hit 155 miles per hour when it made landfall near mexico beach. this is just one perspective, the twisted metal like this. i m going to ask the camera to take a turn here and look down the street that this is bordering. you can get a sense of another type of damage here. all of these trees, all of these beautiful pines snapped in half. the power lines, you can see twisted to the ground there and simply sagging. at this point we have about 200,000 customers in the panhandle without power. that number seems low to me based on the damage we re seeing. i have to believe there are more people without power. weal ee so we ll soon get a sense of how widespread the power outages are, but you heard governor scott say people need to be patient. one thing you can t see from the camera a
