Government has urged South Africans to spend Mandela Day helping to clean up their areas in the wake of the unrest in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.

on Sunday to help
volunteers clean up at two shopping malls.
18 July marks Nelson Mandela s birthday and is commemorated annually as Mandela Day across the world.
President Cyril Ramaphosa called on South Africans to join clean-up efforts on Sunday and help rebuild the country as part of Mandela Day celebrations.
Parts of KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng were decimated by unrest and mass looting that left businesses destroyed and turned large areas into rubbish heaps.
