Six months after Agri Eastern Cape obtained a court order for the municipality to enforce the bylaws around the breeding of dogs, their fears that sparked the legal action were realised when a man was mauled to death in Kenton-on-Sea.
Using the universal language of music, local hero nominee Siyabulela Madyo raises money to provide much-needed goods to impoverished children from the Ndlambe area. Held in Port Alfred annually every December, the Ndlambe Music Festival provides Madyo with an income, but also helps him to raise money so that he can reach his goal of bettering the lives of as many local children as possible.

While the Ndlambe municipality celebrated with much fanfare the first 100ML of water delivered by a salt water reverse osmosis plant a few weeks ago, residents in the high-lying areas of Port Alfred were fuming because they still had no municipal water.
Residents of Port Alfred and the Ndlambe municipality are at loggerheads over two treatment plants which together are supposed to produce five million litres of fresh water a day for the parched town.
