Between January 1, 2019, and December 31, 2023, Maharashtra reported a staggering 83,281 cases of leprosy. Breaking down the numbers, 38,200 are male patients, while 45,081 are female patients.
Kedar, a five-term MLA from Saoner in Nagpur, was sentenced to five years in jail on December 22 by a magistrate court in Nagpur on charges including criminal breach of trust in a case linked to the Nagpur district cooperative bank when he was the chairman between 1999 and 2002.
"How can the state government call a special session then? It is clear that the state government will stretch the matter," said former chief minister and Congress leader Ashok Chavan.
