Vaccination goes to prisons  Precious Manomano Herald Reporter THE Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) has launched the first phase of the vaccination programme where its workforce will receive the voluntary Sinopharm jabs. The development follows Government’s decision last week to have frontline workers vaccinated under phase one of the programme. On the second phase, ZPCS will roll out the programme to over 21 000 inmates in jails across the country. The ZPCS command element yesterday was the first to be vaccinated, as they sought to lead from the front. Speaking after receiving his dose, ZPCS Commissioner-General Moses Chihobvu urged others to be vaccinated.

Peddlers Nabbed With Bags Of Mbanje In Chisumbanje

By Staff Reporter TWO Zaka men were Friday arrested after being found in possession of three bags of dagga with each weighing 20 kilogrammes. The duo was arrested near Rimbi business centre in Chipinge. They are Lovemore Bhlayani (42) of Mashingaidze village Chief Ndanga in Zaka and Nhamo Nyararai (46) of Tinarwo village under Chief Nhema in Zaka. Their arrest follows a tip-off they were going to purchase dagga in Mwangadzi. Provincial deputy police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka said on February 19, officers at Chisumbanje police station received information that the suspects were travelling to collect dagga in the area. Around 8pm, police reacted to the information and travelled to Mwangadzi in Rimbi.

So far, police have arrested 11 suspects in the staged robbery and have recovered US$690 000. Three more suspects are still being sought, including the alleged mastermind. Andew Chigara was one of the suspects on the run, but died at Ndanga District Hospital on Thursday evening from gunshot wounds sustained in the shoot-out at Ndanga Business Centre while he was resisting arrest.
