The state has about three weeks to respond on paper to damning claims by Nigerian televangelist Timothy Omotoso that prosecutors involved in the matter had deliberately withheld information vital to the case.
Omotoso s revelations were based on a confidential e-mail trail between the lead prosecutor in his rape trial, advocate Nceba Ntelwa, and advocate Ismat Cerfontein, who had been assisting him before she abruptly withdrew due to ethical reasons.

The possibility of a mistrial exists for rape accused pastor Timothy Omotoso if confidential e-mails between the lead prosecutor and his team are anything to go by.
And it is now up to judge Irma Schoeman to decide, with lawyers for Omotoso claiming that the prosecution team under advocate Nceba Ntelwa (https://www.heraldlive.co.za/news/2020-11-22-prosecutor-in-timothy-omotoso-case-dies/) conspired to persuade witnesses to commit perjury.

Witness in Timothy Omotoso trial stands firm on evidence By Devon Koen - 06 February 2021
Various discrepancies in a state witness’s testimony and contradictions in her evidence lead by the defence for rape and human trafficking accused Timothy Omotoso emerged in the Port Elizabeth high court on Friday.
For the second day, state witness Hlubikazi Faleni, 26, sat in the witness box while defence attorney Peter Daubermann questioned her version of events.
