Prof Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, the vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) was declared persona non grata on campus today after he held a press conference in Dhaka.
The faculty members of the university announced the decision during a press conference at the university.
The VC in his press conference lied and made ugly remarks about important personalities of the state including the education minister, claimed the faculty members. Vice-Chancellor Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah disobeyed the president s directive and remained absent on campus. Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah viewed this today after placing wreaths at the grave of Dr. Wazed at his native village Laldighee Fatehpur to celebrate his 80th birthday.
Earlier, led by Dr. Kalimullah, teachers and officials of the university placed wreaths and offered Fateha and munajats there seeking divine blessings for the departed soul of Dr. Wazed and welfare of his other family members.

As tenure of vice-chancellors (VCs) of 12 public universities is going to end soon, many pro-government teachers are now lobbying the government high-ups to get appointed as VC.
The aspiring teachers have started lobbying the policymakers at the Education Ministry and Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for getting appointment to the universities.
The post of vice-chancellor of a public university is equivalent to a full secretary of the government. This position is also very attractive in terms of dignity.
Sources at the Education Ministry and University Grants Commission (UGC) said almost all the 12 universities will get new VCs as the government’s policymakers took a decision in principle that they will not appoint any person for over two terms.
