Kabul, Dec 18 (Prensa Latina) The Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, Amir Khan Muttaqi, and an accompanying delegation left today for Pakistan for the extraordinary ministerial meeting of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
At a virtual conference on Wednesday, the German government promised commitment to supporting Afghanistan and pledged to provide the Government of Afghanistan with a new amount of about EUR 182.6 million (about AFN 17.4 billion) for bilateral cooperation.
The Deputy Minister of Policy, Ministry of Finance, Nazir Kabiri headed the Afghan delegation. Professor Claudia Warning, Director-General Middle East, Asia, Latin America, South-Eastern Europe and Eastern Europe, Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), headed the German delegation.
“We stand ready to work with the government and the many committed Afghans to contribute to a sustainable development of Afghanistan. We will only succeed in our joint efforts for a peaceful, socially just and economically strong Afghanistan if all actors are committed to a political solution to the ongoing conflict,” said DG Warning.

Women s Economic Empowerment National Priority : MoF
Ministry of Finance officials at a conference aimed at women s economic empowerment held on Wednesday said that women’s economic empowerment is one of the national priorities and that some programs and projects have been included in the country’s national budget.
“We have 2.8 billion Afs (over $36 million) available for women empowerment projects in our budget from Optional Funds and International Aid. Apart from this, another 300 million Afs has also been allocated for the recruitment of female teachers,” said Nazir Kabiri, deputy minister for policy at the Ministry of Finance.
The funds that are provided by non-governmental organizations and are outside of the national budget need to be aligned with national priorities, officials in the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Economy said.

A blast targeted a police ranger-type vehicle close to Baraki square in PD4 of Kabul city at 4:22 pm Sunday.
Police said “terrorists” have detonated a roadside mine in the area.
Police stated that at least two people – a policeman and a street worker child – were killed and five others wounded in the explosion.
A woman and two children were also among the wounded individuals, police said.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Meanwhile, an explosion happened Sunday morning in PD1 of Lashkargah city, capital of southern Helmand province.
Local officials confirmed that one person and 10 civilians were wounded in an explosion.
