Size on par with recent swells, but well below the October 2020 event
When the Surfline Forecast Team sees a hurricane-force storm developing in the North Atlantic, we prepare for the question that inevitably follows:
Will it be good at Nazare? The current low pressure just east of Newfoundland on Tuesday morning will rapidly intensify, likely producing 50-55’ seas overnight into Wednesday. The resulting long-period WNW/NW swell for Nazare peaks late Thursday the 11th and eases down on Friday the 12th. So, it’ll get big at the fabled spot but it won’t be one of those all-time XXL sessions.
