As the youngest boy in his home back in Iskenderun, Turkey, it was Sean Bozkurt’s daily chore to walk to the local bakery first thing in the morning and bring back the freshly baked bread for breakfast.
Living now on Third Street in what was the Village section of Jersey City, Bozkurt, 26, frequents the Second Street Bakery, which reminds him of the daily ritual in the country he has visited 20 times since he left at the age of 6. He speaks Turkish fluently and talks passionately about Turkish cities and cuisine, which he enjoys cooking, and is proud to say he is Muslim even though he rarely practices, representing a growing phenomenon among young Muslims – to be identified as a cult
