Medical van driver, ex-MCI chief get vaccine among others in Gujarat
Medical Superintendents of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar civil hospitals will get the vaccine besides more than 16,000 health workers in the state during the day.

AHMEDABAD: A medical van driver from Rajkot, along with doctors, on Saturday became one of the first beneficiaries of COVID-19 vaccine in Gujarat on the first day of the inoculation drive.
The drive began at 161 centres in the state where the vaccine jabs were administered to health workers almost simultaneously.
Former president of Medical Council of India (MCI) Dr Ketan Desai, was the second person to receive the vaccine at civil hospital in Ahmedabad.

Ahmedabad: The two-day long dry run or dummy vaccination in Gujarat was ended with 475 people taking part in Gandhinagar and Rajkot districts. The state is one among the four chosen by the central government for the dry run.
Vaccination would be carried out in the coming days to control Covid in India. Chief Immunisation Officer says over 15,000 qualified vaccinators available in State Gujarat is geared up to vaccinate about 15 lakh people in a day, informed a top government official on Monday.
Gujarat’s Chief Immunization Officer, Dr Nayan Jani, informed that the State has about 15,000 qualified vaccinators, besides a strong network of 2,200 cold-chain points.
“We have identified that we have about one crore people with over 50 years of age who are being considered to be vaccinated in the first round,” Jani said during a media orientation workshop on ‘Covid-19 vaccine and Covid Appropriate Behaviour’ supported by UNICEF India and jointly organised by the Centre for Communication of Child Rights (CCCR) at PDPU, Gandhinagar and Gujarat Media Club.
