The Navy Exchange is dropping a coronavirus mask mandate for its fully vaccinated customers and employees, although installation commanders have the final say at local stores.
“This new policy will go into effect when the Commanding Officer of that installation deems appropriate, and at no instance prior,” the Navy Exchange Service Command announced in a statement Thursday. “For those locations where masks are still required, NEXCOM will follow all set guidance within those facilities.”

Using his own time and resources, Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) Space Systems Engineering student Lt. Mitchell Kempisty ventured into unchartered waters to bring an invention of his making through the patent process, an invention which he hopes will improve Navy uniform fabric nametag durability.
Kempisty is something of an overachiever. As an NPS student, he is fully engaged in his thesis, titled Attitude Optimization of NASA s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter in Sun-safe Mode in Order to Minimize Star-Tracker Obstructions from Local Orbiting Bodies.

4 NAS SIGONELLA, Italy – The Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group (IKE CSG) is a multiplatform team of ships, aircraft and more than 5,000 Sailors, capable of carrying out a wide variety of missions around the globe. It brings multi-mission capable platforms to the U.S. Sixth Fleet area of operations with strike, ballistic missile defense, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities. Last March, the IKE was the first aircraft carrier to conduct a logistics and maintenance period (LMP) at Naval Support Activity (NSA) Souda Bay, Greece, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During IKE’s LMP and a replenishment-at-sea (RAS), logistics teams assigned to Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center Sigonella (NAVSUP FLCSI) joined efforts with multiple NSA Souda Bay departments and tenant commands to deliver critical parts, mail and provisions.
