LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan on Wednesday took exception to use of social media by the civil servants and hinted at passing an appropriate order in this regard.
The chief justice observed that the civil servants should submit details of their cellular numbers and social media accounts to the relevant departments.
He remarked that the departments should decide a code for the civil servants to use the social media.
CJ Khan was hearing a petition against holding of protest/strike by the public functionaries and running a campaign against the judiciary on social media in the wake of the arrest of an assistant commissioner ordered by a civil judge in Sahiwal.

ISLAMABAD: The association of provincial bureaucrats has rejected the federal government’s decision to increase by three times the number of federal bureaucrats on provincial posts and vowed to challenge the decision in high courts.
The strong reaction by the All Pakistan Provincial Civil Services Association (APPCSA) has forced Special Secretary to the Prime Minister on Establishment Shehzad Arbab to issue a statement in a bid to ease the tension between the provincial and federal bureaucracies.
On March 12, the Establishment Division amended Rule 17 of the Civil Service of Pakistan (Composition and Cadre) Rules, 1954, and changed the composition of the provincial bureaucracy. According to the amendment, the number of federal bureaucrats on provincial posts increased from 299 to 1,121.
