Dr Madhav, Senior Veterinarian at PfA, commented on the rescued eggs, stating, “Upon close examination of the size and shape of the eggs, we identified them as peninsular rock agama eggs. The peninsular rock agama is a fascinating species of lizard native to south India, known for its distinct coloration and basking behaviour.”
Colonel Dr Navaz Shariff, chief veterinary surgeon at PFA, said: “We have a feather bank. We perform the imping process on a variety of birds, with a focus on species like black kites, parakeets, and barbets. These birds often lose their feathers and become injured due to entanglements, leading to a loss of their natural instincts.”
Animal activists and veterinarians have suggested steps for pet owners and others to help dogs, both at home and on the streets, cope with the challenges of Deepawali, emphasizing that providing a comfortable space for them during the festivities is paramount.
