Patel says 340 people which includes vendors and market staff have been swabbed for COVID-19 and officials from the Ministry of Health are now disinfecting the market. He says the health staff has told them that none of the people tested today showed any symptoms of the virus however they are awaiting results. Patel told fijivillage this morning that one of the vendors was identified as a suspected case of COVID-19.

It was seen that vendors and some customers who entered the market in the morning were kept inside for screening. And in a social media post on Twitter this afternoon, Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar confirmed the closure. “The Ministry of Local Government wishes to advise the public that Nausori Market has been closed off after vendors and staff were swabbed for COVID-19 by MOH officials today,” Mrs Kumar said.
