A line from âSpiralâ, a track off âNature Of Thingsâ, perfectly described 2020 for a lot of us all around the world: â
Iâm watching forecasts / Thumbing my knees / Wishing for better luckâ. Most of us can agree we were happy to see it behind us.
Whether 2021 will bring âbetter luckâ remains to be seen, but the year has already brought an excellent new Subsonic Eye record. The Singaporean band certainly havenât just been sitting around âthumbing their kneesâ, this being their third full-length album since their debut âStrawberry Feelsâ in 2017 (the band even managed to squeeze in an acoustic EP last year).

Singaporean indie rock band Subsonic Eye have released their newest single âFruitcakeâ today (December 18).
The track, now available on all streaming platforms, is the second cut released from their upcoming third album âNature of Thingsâ. Its closing track âUnearthâ dropped last month alongside an animated visual.
The rousing post-punky anthem takes on a trance-like quality thanks to dense, overlapping guitars and insistent percussion rounded out with vocalist Nur Wahidahâs spunky delivery. â
Sheâs a trainwreck / Nailed to ideas / Canât break out againâ, she opens on the track.
