Steven A. Hauck, age 73, of South Euclid, OH, formerly of Duluth, MN, passed away on October 6, 2022. Born May 16, 1949, in Rochester, NY, Steve graduated from Gates-Chili High School prior to attending Albion College where he earned a Bachelor’s in Geology. Upon graduating from college, he enlisted in the US Army where he was trained as a Chinese translator and married fellow Albion student and the love of his life, Barbara (née Horsley). They were married for 50 years. Steve later earned a Master’s degree in Geology from the University of North Carolina before embarking on a career in geology that led him across the globe, working first for Union Carbide in Grand Junction, CO, where he was responsible for exploration for uranium and other rare and critical minerals. He was then hired as the second employee in the minerals division of the Natural Resources Research Institute of the University of Minnesota in Duluth where he served as a research geologist and manager for over 30 y
