The man who is accused of vandalizing North Dakota Sen. John Hoeven
Cass County charged Thomas Alexander Starks, claiming that he “willfully damaged tangible property of another, intentionally causing pecuniary loss in excess of two thousand dollars but not in excess of ten thousand dollars.”
Video of the attack on the office appears to show Starks walking up a set of stairs to a door carrying an ax and then smashing an office window before walking away.

Prosecutors allege that Starks “willfully damaged office windows, a window frame, and an intercom system.”
Alex Finken, a spokesperson for Hoeven, told The Hill on Wednesday that staff discovered the vandalism on Monday morning.

“It’s what every senator is being asked. Three weeks ago the transition occurred in terms of the president said access to the briefings and access to the money. That all occurred three weeks ago. So nothing changed,” he said. “This is the Constitution, and I believe in the Constitution.”

Biden s transition team did not immediately return a request for comment from The Hill.
McCarthy led the EPA from 2013 to 2017 and served as architect of the Clean Power Plan. Since leaving office, she has worked as the president of the Natural Resources Defense Counsel, a major environmental advocacy group.
Reached for comment the NRDC noted McCarthy has previously denied any interest in joining the Biden administration. The organization recently received a $100 million grant from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos Gina’s been clear she’s dedicated to advancing NRDC’s work, an organization spokesperson said.
Other possible candidates for the climate policy position include Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D), former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D), New York’s deputy secretary for Energy and Environment Ali Zaidi and John Podesta, who held a similar role under former President Obama.
