Governor Dunleavy to reorganize the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (Anchorage, AK) – Governor Mike Dunleavy has directed the Alaska Department of Law to draft an executive order reorganizing the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services into two distinct executive branch departments: the Alaska Department of Health and the Alaska Department of Family and Community Services. Anchorage Suspect in Jail on Multiple Robbery/Theft Charges at Anchorage Stores
Anchorage police report that they have an Anchorage suspect in custody after four separate criminal incidences in the last month at local area stores.
Initially, on December 17th in the early afternoon, APD officers responded to Target on Muldoon road after being contacted that suspect, 29-year-old Blake A. Anderson, who had repeatedly returned to the store in November and December after having been trespassed> APD was told that Anderson had, on November 19th, entered the electronics section of the store and concealed items before walking out of the store.
Initial Allocations of Moderna Vaccine Arrive in Alaska; Alaska’s Work to Distribute, Allocate and Administer Vaccine Continues
ANCHORAGE – The second COVID-19 vaccine authorized for emergency use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) arrived in Alaska on Monday. Distribution and administration of this vaccine, made by Moderna, will occur this week in Alaska alongside the continued roll-out of the Pfizer vaccine which started last Monday.
As of Sunday, 5,674 doses of Pfizer vaccine have been administered in Alaska and reported to Alaska’s VacTraAK immunization information system.
The Moderna vaccine received emergency use authorization from the FDA on Friday. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended Saturday that Americans aged 18 and older receive the Moderna vaccine under emergency use. CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield signed the ACIP recommendation, which began distribution of the
