Southeast Native regional organization quitting logging business

The announcement came in a release quoting CEO Anthony Mallott and Board of Directors Chair Joe Nelson. They say they are still in the land management business and will continue to work with the Forest Service to sustain bark programs and ensure logs continue to be available to Native carvers. They say the transition isn’t expected to affect future profits or dividends. Sealaska was one of the 13 native corporations formed as the result of the 1971 Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act.
