Farmers Almanac says summer may bring widespread tornadoes to Kansas

Last year was a slow year for tornadoes in Kansas. Only 17 were reported throughout the state, compared to an annual average of 62, says the Topeka office of the National Weather Service. But the Farmers Almanac suggests this coming warm-weather season will be stormier for the Sunflower State, and may bring widespread tornadoes. This year s version of that publication designates Kansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska as being part of a severe weather zone, which it predicts will see an above-average number of thunderstorms.  These summer rainstorms may be severe and spawn widespread tornadoes over the middle part of the country during June and July, it says.
