Each year, nearly 200 undergraduate writers and poets throughout North America, and sometimes beyond, come to Weber State University to present their work and learn from some of the most important writers in contemporary literature.
In this week’s segment of KNAU's series PoetrySnaps!, we meet Patrick Ramsay, a poet based in Ogden, Utah. His work is heavily influenced by his natural surroundings, including the Wasatch Mountains and Great Salt Lake, and also by his experience growing up queer in the Mormon Church. Ramsay believes deeply in community poetry and accessibility, and today he shares his poem, Breakfast Recipe for Seasonal Affective Disorder.
Literature students from across the country will have the opportunity to present their work at the 37th annual National Undergraduate Literature Conference in a virtual format March 31 to April 2.
WSU Names 2021 Brady Distinguished Professors
April 2, 2021
OGDEN, Utah – Two Weber State University professors, acclaimed for contributions to their disciplines of economics and English, have been named Weber State University’s 2021 Brady Presidential Distinguished Professors.
Economics professor and former WSU provost Michael Vaughan, and English professor Mikel Vause will be honored at this year’s virtual convocations event, April 29 at 7 p.m. The event will be streamed live at weber.edu/commencement.
The honor was established in 2006 to recognize WSU faculty members who have demonstrated the highest quality teaching, scholarship, research and community service. A generous gift from Rodney and Carolyn “Mitzi” Brady made recognition funding possible. The late Rodney Brady served as WSU president from 1978 to 1985.
