Saudi Arabia Continues to Promote Tourism by Providing Electronic Visas to 6 New Countries

The Saudi Ministry of Tourism announced on Tuesday the availability of electronic visit visas for citizens of six countries, bringing the total number to 63 countries benefiting from this service. The new countries include, Türkiye, Thailand, Panama, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Seychelles, and Mauritius. Citizens can obtain a visit visa electronically or directly upon arrival at one of the Kingdom’s international ports.

G7 Leaders Agree to New Initiative to Fight Economic Coercion

Group of Seven leaders on Saturday agreed to a new initiative to counter economic coercion, and pledged action to ensure that any actors attempting to weaponize economic dependence would fail and face consequences. The initiative, dubbed Coordination Platform on Economic Coercion, will use early warning and rapid information sharing on economic coercion with members meeting regularly for consultations, the leaders said in a statement.

EBRD Eyes Capital Boost, Expansion to Sub-Saharan Africa, Iraq

Shareholders of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development have approved its expansion to sub-Saharan Africa and Iraq and will consider a proposal to boost its capital by 3-5 billion euros, the bank said on Thursday. The bank said in a statement that a detailed proposal on a paid-in capital increase will be prepared by the end of this year. EBRD said Tuesday that inflation has peaked in emerging Europe, central Asia and north Africa, but rising gas prices in the coming winter will keep pressure on household finances.

Saudi Arabia Ranks 2nd Globally as Fastest Growing Tourism Destination

A report issued by the World Tourism Organization (WTO) revealed that the number of visitors coming to the Kingdom increased by 64 percent during the first quarter of 2023, compared to the same period in 2019.   Experts told Asharq Al-Awsat that the Kingdom was able to place itself on the world tourism map, and is witnessing great leaps in international indicators after facilitating all procedures related to the entry of visitors through electronic visas, which contributed to doubling the number of tourists coming to the country.
