The Joint Commission has been busy in the first half of 2021, overhauling accreditation standards, elevating health equity to a national patient safety goal.
Wrong-site surgeries, or those that occur on the wrong patient or body part, happen about five times a day in the United States, according to a St. Mary's Hospital and Joint Commission news release.
