Back in the 1990s the secret service have been involved in Threat Management embarked on a comprehensive study as to the thinking and behavior of persons who engage in violence against Public Officials and public figures. The results of the study said the foundation for how the agency currently conducts its own threat assessment and moreover in the wake of the report that followed back then it was too more broadly conduct research and deliver training and provide consultation and areas of threat assessment and whether they are endemic to the secret service mission.
