Nigeria s oil earnings dipped by 15% to N4 73trn in 2020

Abuja Nigeria earned a total of N4.733 trillion from the oil and gas sector in 2020, according to data obtained from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), dropping by 14.57 per cent, compared to N5.536 trillion recorded in the 2019. According to data obtained from the CBN’s Quarterly Economic Reports, oil earnings accounted for 50.82 per cent of total federally-collected revenue of N9.314 trillion recorded in 2020. Giving a breakdown of revenue from the petroleum industry in 2020, the CBN stated that in the first, second, third and fourth quarter, the country earned N1.523 trillion, N1.271 trillion, N953.09 billion and N985.57 billion, respectively, compared to oil and gas earnings of N1.414 trillion, N1.219 trillion, N1.34 trillion and N1.564 trillion recorded in the first, second, third and fourth quarters of 2019, respectively.
