Lady Nugent weeps

The Nugent name is synonymous with Antigua and Barbuda. Much has been written about their involvement with the Skerretts aka Clare Hall and Follys estates. They were connected to the Antigua Grammar School (AGS) and Archdeacon Samuel Edmund Branch who founded it in 1884, and was its headmaster from that time until 1927. The AGS was first located at the top of St Mary’s Street, before it moved to the old treasury building near the Bryson’s Bottling Plant, across from the General Post Office at the bottom of High Street. That building also housed the Public Library upstairs. It was severely damaged in the great earthquake of 1974 and abandoned.
Gambia - League returns with thrilling fixtures
After a ten-month hiatus due to the global Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the 2021 Gambia Division One League kicked off over the weekend with some mouthwatering fixtures.
With adherence to COVID-19 protocols, the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) received the greenlight from the Health Ministry to start the league.
The GFF says the top-flight matches will be played across three venues (Independence Stadium, National Technical Training Centre, and Live Your Dreams Sports Academy), whilst works at the Banjul and Brikama mini stadiums are expected to be completed by the end of February.
Real de Banjul kicked off their pursuit for a 14th league title with a 2-1 victory against resilient Tallinding United at the new Live Your Dreams Sports Academy stadium on Friday 15 January 2021.
