And youve got five trillion dollars of outstanding obligations now that somebody has to deal with. Thats in the current of housing finance. Thats not in the future. So, somebody has got to deal with that. And whether its fannie or freddie or somebody else, i mean, thats, i think, a decision that congress has to make, not fhfa. Let me switch topics here for just a minute. That has to do with the mortgage debt relief act. Director watt, i dont think any state has felt the impact of falling home values more than the state of nevada. Congress passed mortgage debt relief act to ensure those who owe more on their mortgages than they do on their homes are now worth would not be hit with additional income taxes. Im not going to ask your opinion on the irs or thank you. On income taxes. But i think its unfortunate. No one gets hit more than lowincome, middleincome families. I think its unfair and i think most would concur that its unfair, that individuals would have to pay taxes on income that
Continuing resolution referred to as krom any bus strategy which keeps the government operating until mid february. The reason, obviously because republicans will have control of the house and senate next year . There is talk of that. So it is varying degreeses. The basic premise of that is that many of the republicans and some of the republicans in congress, realizing they will control both chambers starting on january 3rd. Are wondering why democratic majority leaders soon to be minority leader harry reid and other democrats would have such a say on a bill spending them until last so that notion is that lets do another temporary one and then the new republican dominated senate and house could come up with a spending bill after that. But Republican Leaders kind of want to wipe the slate clean and are preferring a measure that could be done now that could get congress through the whole entire next fiscal year without having to readdress it in the spring. England. Were going to start in massachusetts among the hardest hit areas. Much of the state right now is dealing with these blizzard like conditions. Hurricaneforce winds and nearly two feet of snow in many areas. Some places saw as much as three feet of snow. Massachusetts governor Duvall Patrick called for the first first ban on traffic in 35 years. Right now, about 400,000 people are in the dark. Officials believe that number will go up as the day progresses. In connecticut two feet of snow reported in parts of the area there. State Officials Say one person died because the storm, because of the storm in connecticut. The governor declare a state of emergency in highway traffic being and highway travel is being banned there. State utility workers are on standby and planning for up to 30 of the customers to lose power. Nearly 1,000 state and private snow plows are clearing the road.
