Faithful invited to Year of St Joseph consecration activities

Published April 17, 2021, 10:50 AM Diocese of San Carlos Bishop Gerardo Alminaza is inviting the faithful in his diocese to take part in the activities to mark the Year of St. Joseph on May 1, Labor Day. In a circular, Bishop Alminaza enjoined the faithful “to take part in the commemoration of the Day of Consecration to St. Joseph on May 1, which is observed as the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker.” The faithful’s participation, he said, is important as the country is placed under the patronage of St. Joseph amid the pandemic. Activities for the national consecration include novena masses from April 22 to April 30. On May 1, consecration rites will be held at the National Shrine of Saint Joseph in Mandaue City, Cebu.

Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas said the 33-day spiritual preparation for the National Day of Consecration to St. Joseph aims “to highlight the example of St. Joseph as a model husband to Mary and as a father to Jesus.” Rouquel Ponte, Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas national president, urged the faithful to help spread devotion to St. Joseph. “As we observe the 33-day spiritual preparations, may the Lord bless us with the grace to help spread devotion to St. Joseph. May he also serve as an example to all husbands,” Ponte said.
