Guatemala s National Seismologic and Vulcanic Institute, INSIMUVEH, reported Wednesday bursts of lava as high as 1,600-feet (500 meters) over the crater, and lava rivers extending half a mile (one kilometer) away from it.
The Pacaya Volcano, one of the most active in the country, lies 15 miles south of the capital Guatemala City.
