Minister of National Security meets with the Ambassador of the People s Republic of China
Port of Spain: Minister of National Security the Honourable Fitzgerald Hinds M.P. hosted a virtual courtesy call on Friday May 14, 2021 with His Excellency Fang Qiu, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China.
The courtesy call presented an opportunity for Minister Hinds and Ambassador Qiu to discuss ongoing initiatives between the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the People’s Republic of China, in the area of national security.
Ambassador Qiu took the opportunity to congratulate Minister Hinds on his appointment as Minister of National Security. The Minister was especially grateful for the generosity of the Government of the People’s Republic of China, for its continued COVID-19 assistance to the Government and people of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

Port of Spain: Minister of National Security the Honourable Fitzgerald Hinds M.P. received a courtesy call today May 06, 2021 from High Commissioner for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Trinidad and Tobago, Her Excellency Harriet Cross.
The meeting presented an opportunity for Minister Hinds and Her Excellency Cross to engage in a cordial discourse on opportunities to further optimize bilateral cooperation and implementation on areas of border security, policing and prison reform, as well as other significant areas of mutual interest.
High Commissioner Cross congratulated Minister Hinds on his appointment as Minister of National Security, while the Honourable Minister expressed his appreciation for the strength and tenure of the partnership between the Ministry of National Security and the British High Commission in Port of Spain.

Minister of National Security welcomes new Defence Force recruits
Port of Spain: Minister of National Security the Honourable Fitzgerald Hinds M.P. attended the historic Joint Passing Out Parade of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force today, Monday May 03, 2021, at Teteron Barracks, Chaguaramas. It marks the first occasion that recruits from the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment, Coast Guard and Air Guard were inducted at the same time.
The Minister commended the one hundred and fifty-three (153) recruits for “
choosing the Defence Force as a career, demonstrating your desire to give yourself to the service of your country” and congratulated them for successfully completing their military induction training progamme. Defence Force troops return home from St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Port of Spain: Fifty (50) members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) returned to Trinidad and Tobago today, Saturday May 01, 2021 after being deployed on Tuesday April 13, 2021 to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines following the eruption of the La Soufriere Volcano.
Some of TTDF troops arrived at the Inter-Island Ferry Terminal in Port of Spain on board the Galleons Passage at approximately 12:00 noon and were welcomed home by Minister of National Security the Honourable Fitzgerald Hinds M.P. and Chief of Defence Staff Air Vice Marshall Darryl Daniel. The other troops arrived at Staubles Bay, Chaguaramas, aboard the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard vessel the TTS Brighton.
