Security challenges are politically motivated - Niger Delta Minister -

Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Senator Godswill Akpabio has stated the worsening agitations and security challenges across the country are politically motivated to derail the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. He however said sponsors of the crises will be shocked as government remains focused and working towards resolving the situation sooner than expected. The former Akwa Ibom Governor spoke on Thursday at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) when he paid a courtesy visit on the Secretary of the party’s Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Senator John James Akpanudoedehe in Abuja. Akapbio, who was responding to questions from newsmen on the spate of insecurity, admitted the situation was becoming worrisome but assured government was up to the task, adding the “storm will soon be over.”

APC women demand 50 per cent of leadership positions

Punch Newspapers Sections John Alechenu, Abuja THE Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, on Wednesday, led a high-powered delegation of women, to the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, to demand for a 50 per cent representation of women in leadership positions. Tallen, who led the delegation to submit a memorandum to the APC Constitution Review Committee, noted that it was time the Nigerian the female gender was given its pride of place in the scheme of things both within the party and in government. She said, “We demand affirmative action. You will agree with me that women toil and give the highest votes in all the elections. The absence of women in the party structure is what bothers women. We are here to demand for the amendment.
